Kassie Krut have announced an expanded edition of their 2024 debut EP, Kassie Krut. It’s out June 6 via Fire Talk. Five of the six songs from the EP are getting the remix treatment, with contributing artists including Kero Kero Bonito’s JLB, Coido, DJ Travella, and Container. The experimental art-rock band has shared one of those remix tracks—Panda Bear’s spin on “Hoot Beat”—in advance. Check it out below.
That “Hoot Beat” remix is a fitting collaboration between the two artists considering that Panda Bear and Kassie Krut, along with Toro y Moi, are embarking on a short tour together in May. Once that wraps, Kassie Krut will continue on the road with a few headlining dates of their own in Chicago, Detroit, Toronto, and Montreal. Meanwhile, Panda Bear veers off on a different tour route, playing San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, and Vancouver in support of his new album Sinister Grift.
Following the dissolution of their Philadelphia math-rock band Palm in 2023, founding members and singer-guitarists Eve Alpert and Kasra Kurt took time off before forming Kassie Krut with their Nicks and Grazes producer Matt Anderegg. They released that debut EP this past December, and preceded it with the singles “Reckless” and “Racing Man.”
